I accidentally ran over and killed a dog when I was driving late at night. The dog ran across the road and I could not stop in time. The dog died at the spot. I am feeling very guilty. I calm myself down and went back to the scene, the dog has died. I could not moved the corpse to the pavement. I had helped from an indian guy who is willing to help me move it to the side pavement so that no one would ran across it again. Still, I feel guilt and what can I do?

Dear User, I am sorry to hear about the difficult experience you had recently. It is understandable that you are feeling guilty and upset about the situation. Accidents happen, and it is not uncommon to feel responsible for the outcome even if it was out of your control. It is important to acknowledge and validate your feelings of guilt and regret, as they are a natural response to the situation. Allow yourself to feel these emotions, knowing that it is okay to not feel okay.
From a Buddhist perspective, it is important to recognize that everything in life is impermanent, including the dog's life. While we should do our best to prevent harm to others, accidents and unexpected events can happen. It is important to practice self-compassion and forgiveness towards oneself, as we are all fallible and make mistakes. From a psychological perspective, it may be helpful to talk to a trusted friend or professional about your feelings and process the experience. This can help you gain perspective, process your emotions, and find ways to move forward.
In terms of coaching advice, it may be helpful to find a way to honor the dog's memory and bring closure to the situation. This could include making a donation to an animal charity, planting a tree or flower in memory of the dog, or even writing a letter of apology to the dog's owner (if you were able to identify them). It is also important to practice self-care during this time, whether that means getting enough rest, engaging in activities that bring you joy, or seeking professional support if needed. Remember that healing is a process and it takes time, but with self-compassion and self-care, you will get through this difficult time.
