When I go to sit down, I feel a feeling of pressure behind my eyes and like I cannot relax no matter what I do. My legs have been feeling restless and I just want to be able to relax. What should I do?

Dear User, I understand that you are experiencing discomfort when you try to sit down and relax. It can be frustrating when our body and mind refuse to cooperate with our desire to unwind and let go. From a Buddhist perspective, it is important to approach this experience with compassion and curiosity. Instead of judging yourself for not being able to relax, try to observe the experience without attaching any labels or expectations to it. This is a form of mindfulness, which is a key practice in Buddhism. Psychologically speaking, it is possible that your body is holding onto stress or tension that is preventing you from fully relaxing. It may be helpful to identify any sources of stress or anxiety in your life and work on addressing them directly. Additionally, incorporating relaxation techniques such as deep breathing, meditation, or yoga may help release the tension that you are feeling. As for specific coaching advice, I suggest starting with a simple breathing exercise. Find a quiet place to sit, close your eyes, and take a deep breath in through your nose for a count of four. Hold the breath for a count of seven, then slowly exhale through your mouth for a count of eight. Repeat this exercise for a few minutes and notice if you feel any release of tension or pressure behind your eyes. It may also be helpful to stretch or move your legs before sitting down, to release any restlessness or discomfort that you are feeling. Remember to approach this experience with kindness and patience, as relaxation is a process that requires practice and persistence.
