I worked in a company for 1 year. Then i got cancer. As a cancer patient, my manager asked me to leave my job because they feel im not capable of performing in my task due to chemo treatment. They rehired an ex employee of 13 years to come back the company to take over my task. Im very depressed on this matter. How can i survive this ordeal?

Dear User, I am sorry to hear about your difficult situation. It is understandable that you feel depressed and overwhelmed by the circumstances. You were diagnosed with cancer and then lost your job, which can be devastating news to receive. From a Buddhist perspective, we must accept the reality of the situation and acknowledge that everything is impermanent. Life is full of ups and downs, and we must learn to adapt to changing circumstances. It is natural to feel a range of emotions during this time, including sadness, anger, and frustration.
From a psychological perspective, it is important to prioritize self-care during this challenging time. It is essential to take care of your physical, emotional, and spiritual needs to help you cope with the stress of the situation. This can include seeking support from loved ones, engaging in activities that bring you joy, and accessing professional resources such as therapy or counseling. It may also be helpful to engage in mindfulness practices such as meditation or deep breathing exercises to help manage anxiety and stress.
Regarding your job situation, it may be helpful to seek legal advice if you feel that your rights have been violated. It is possible that your former employer violated the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) by discriminating against you due to your cancer diagnosis. Additionally, it may be helpful to explore other job opportunities that align with your skillset and interests. Networking with others in your field and updating your resume and LinkedIn profile can help you connect with potential employers. Remember, it is essential to prioritize your health and well-being during this time, and it is possible to find a fulfilling career path even amidst challenging circumstances.
