Greetings and respects, I meet a lot of difficult people in my life. I treat them with kindness, forgiveness and compassion. However there seems to be no change, what can I do?

Dear friend, I understand that it can be frustrating when you put in the effort to treat difficult people with kindness, forgiveness, and compassion, yet they seem to remain unchanged. It takes a lot of patience and energy to consistently show these qualities, and it's understandable that you may feel discouraged when you don't see any results. It's important to remember that changing others is not within our control, but changing ourselves is. It's also important to recognize that everyone has their own journey and timeline for growth and change. From a Buddhist perspective, the practice of kindness, forgiveness, and compassion is not solely for the benefit of others, but also for our own spiritual development. By cultivating these qualities, we are able to let go of negative emotions and develop inner peace and happiness. From a psychological perspective, treating difficult people with kindness, forgiveness, and compassion can also help improve our own mental health by reducing stress and increasing positive emotions. As for what you can do, I would suggest focusing on your own growth and development. Practice self-compassion and self-care, and continue to cultivate kindness, forgiveness, and compassion towards yourself and others. It may also be helpful to set healthy boundaries and limit your interactions with particularly difficult people, if possible. Remember that change takes time and patience, and that your efforts are not in vain. In summary, it can be difficult when our efforts to treat difficult people with kindness, forgiveness, and compassion don't seem to make a difference. However, we can focus on our own growth and development, and continue to cultivate these qualities towards ourselves and others.
