I’m in the midst of a job application, which I a required to submit my exam transcript for them to calculate the remuneration package. My exam results are lousy and I feel very down as I’m disappointed with myself. I have an upcoming exam to resit next week which I have failed twice. If I can’t pass this time it will really be so demoralising. On the other hand, this job application offer will be revoked if I do not manage to pass this time. I don’t know how to motivate myself.

Dear User, I want you to know that I empathize with your current situation. It can be incredibly disheartening to feel disappointed with yourself when it comes to your exam results. It's understandable that you may be feeling down and demotivated right now. Remember, it is normal to experience these emotions, and it's important to give yourself space to process them. From a Buddhist perspective, it is essential to cultivate self-compassion during challenging times. Recognize that you are not defined by your exam results, and that your worth as a person extends far beyond academic achievements. Embrace the idea that failure is a part of growth and learning. Instead of dwelling on your past performance, focus on the present moment and the steps you can take to improve. From a psychological perspective, it's important to address your feelings of disappointment and demotivation. Allow yourself to acknowledge these emotions without judgment. Remember that setbacks are a natural part of life, and they do not define your abilities or potential. Consider reframing your thoughts to be more positive and supportive. Instead of thinking, "I can't pass this exam," try saying, "I am working hard and doing my best to prepare for this exam." Now, let's discuss some coaching advice to help you navigate this situation. Firstly, break down the task of preparing for the upcoming exam into smaller, manageable steps. Set aside dedicated time each day to study and revise, focusing on specific topics or areas that need improvement. Create a study schedule that balances focused work with breaks for rest and relaxation. Consider seeking support from a tutor, study group, or mentor who can provide guidance and assistance. Additionally, finding motivation can be challenging, but remember the reasons why you applied for this job in the first place. Visualize yourself succeeding and imagine the positive outcomes that can come from passing the exam. Set realistic goals for yourself and celebrate small victories along the way. Finally, practice self-care and prioritize your well-being during this stressful period. Engage in activities that bring you joy and relaxation, and remember to take breaks to recharge. Remember, this is just one step on your journey, and whatever the outcome, it does not define your worth. Keep in mind that setbacks can be opportunities for growth and learning. Approach this exam with a mindset of curiosity and a willingness to do your best. Trust in your abilities and have faith in your efforts. You are capable of achieving great things, and I believe in you.
