I became the leader of a club after the previous leaders graduated. Together with me are three other leaders. Due to some management issues, we are losing members, and all leaders except for me seem to not be taking any responsibilities. This is not only putting stress on my already busy schedule, but also making me fee down mentally, therefore I wanted to resign. But I also fear that the other leaders are gonna think bad of me? And that I’ll let the members who still come to practices and appreciate my effort down. what should I do?

Dear User, I can understand how challenging and overwhelming your current situation must be as the leader of a club. It is not uncommon to feel stressed and mentally drained when facing management issues, especially when you are the only one taking responsibilities. It is important to acknowledge and validate your feelings of stress and the impact it has on your well-being. It is commendable that you have been putting effort into the club and considering the feelings of the other leaders and the members who appreciate your efforts. From a Buddhist perspective, it is crucial to recognize that suffering arises when we attach ourselves to expectations and worry about how others perceive us. The fear of being judged by the other leaders and letting down the members can be a heavy burden to carry. However, it is important to remember that you cannot control others' thoughts or reactions. Instead, focus on your intentions and actions, guided by compassion and the desire to create a positive environment for everyone involved. From a psychological perspective, it may be helpful to explore the reasons behind the other leaders' lack of responsibility. Is it possible that they are unaware of the impact it has on you and the club? Communicating openly with them about your concerns and sharing your feelings can lead to a better understanding of the situation. Additionally, consider involving the members in decision-making processes and seeking their opinions. This can empower them and create a sense of ownership within the club, leading to increased engagement and commitment. In terms of coaching advice, I encourage you to reflect on your own well-being and prioritize self-care. Remember that it is okay to ask for help or delegate tasks when needed. Consider having a conversation with the other leaders to address the management issues and find potential solutions together. By fostering open communication and shared responsibility, you can distribute the workload and create a more balanced environment. Finally, trust in your abilities and decisions, knowing that you are doing your best to serve both yourself and the club.
