I am studying, living and looking for jobs abroad alone in France. The best friends that I make here all come with their partners, so they don't understand my needs. they don't reach out to me when I am in need. at some point, I feel one-sided, since I always help them when they are in need. I hope one day they will experience what I went through and reminding themselves that they were not being a good friend

Dear User, I can understand how difficult it must be for you to study, live and look for jobs abroad alone in France. It can be tough to be away from your home, family and friends. It is natural to feel lonely and disconnected from others in such a situation. It is also understandable that you feel unsupported by your friends who are in relationships and may not be able to understand your needs as a single person. Feeling one-sided in a friendship can be hurtful and can lead to feelings of resentment and disappointment. It is important to communicate your needs with your friends and let them know how you are feeling. It is possible that they are not aware of your struggles and may not know how to support you. It is also possible that they are going through their own challenges and may not have the capacity to be there for you as much as you would like. From a Buddhist perspective, it is important to cultivate compassion and understanding towards others, even when they are not able to meet our expectations. We can practice empathy and put ourselves in their shoes, understanding their limitations and challenges. It is also important to cultivate self-compassion and kindness towards ourselves, especially during times of difficulty. From a psychological perspective, it can be helpful to seek out social support from other sources, such as joining social groups or clubs where you can meet like-minded individuals. It can also be helpful to engage in self-care activities that bring you joy and help you feel grounded and centered. In terms of coaching advice, I would suggest that you communicate your needs with your friends and let them know how you are feeling. You can also explore other avenues for social connection and support. Finally, I would encourage you to practice self-compassion and kindness towards yourself, and to recognize that you are doing the best you can in a challenging situation.
